  • Bereavement Leave

Taking time off work to grieve over the loss of a family member or close loved one, and take care of important matters. For example, preparing and attending the funeral, and settling the will. All employees are entitled to three days of paid bereavement leave after six months of continuous employment.

Due to the circumstances, bereavement leave is often taken at short notice. Employees can choose to split up the days of taking leave (i.e. taking two days of bereavement leave one week, then one day of leave the next week) but only with permission from the employer.

An employer may grant the employee extra bereavement leave if they wish.
